According to Statistics Finland, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 2,2 % greater in the October to December of the year 2019 compared to the similar period in 2018; and in December, this indicator grew by 0,4 % from the year before.
In the period from October to December of the year 2018 this measure has grew by 5,0 % compared to the same previous period.
The growth in wages and salaries was fastest in the industry of private health and social work and composed 7,0 % in the 4 quarter of 2019 than in the corresponding period of 2018 year. Changing in the wages and salaries sums in other industries were the following (4 quarter of 2019):
- trade (+ 2,0%)
- manufacturing (+1,5%)
- financial intermediation (+ 1,3%)
- private education (+1,0%)
- other services (+ 2,9%)
- construction (- 0,1%)
Thus, the decrease in wages and salaries was registered in construction sphere.
The wages and salaries sum have increased in the last quarter of 2019 compared to the corresponding period one year previously:
- by 2,5 % in the private sector
- by 2,1 % in the public sector
