Monthly wage in Finland
According to Statistics Finland data, there was an increase in private sector labor costs by 1,4% in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018. Seasonally adjusted labour costs grew by 1,5 %. In October to December 2019, the number of working days was the same as in the corresponding period of 2018.
The cost per an hour worked rised by 1,8 % in manufacturing industries and by 1,4 % in business service activities in October to December 2019 compared to the corresponding period of year 2018. The cost went down by 0.4 % in construction.
In the central government sector, the cost of an hour worked increased by 0,3 % in the 4th quarter of 2019 compared to the corresponding quarter one year ago. The rise in costs was mainly due to the growth in wages and salaries subject to preliminary withholding tax. The number of hours worked also increased, but the costs increased more.
In the local government sector, the cost of an hour worked increased by 2,3 % in the 4th quarter of 2019 compared to the corresponding quarter of the 2018 year. The rise in costs was mainly due to the fall in the number of hours worked.
