Temporary change in the law for those registering in TE-service of Finland as unemployed job seeker

According to the temporary amendment of the law, which came into force from the 1 May 2020, there is no need to answer for the questions regarding your need for employment services or update the employment plan at the beginning of the job search. These actions are voluntary, and the law applies retroactively from 16 March 2020.

If you wish, then can answer questions about your need for services and update your employment plan after registering as a job seeker, but the job search application will not be canceled if these steps have not been completed.

Current changes will be valid until June 30, 2020. The law is applied retroactively, so, that the TE Office can, at your request, correct and reinstate a job search application that was interrupted after 16 March 2020 for the reasons mentioned above.

Payment of unemployment benefits requires job search to be valid. You can check your job search situation at the E-Services (Oma asiointi) on the website of the Finnish Employment Service TE – office (TE-palvelut).
