According to preliminary data from Statistics Finland, the population of Finland at the end of January 2020 amounted to 5 528 442 people. The population of Finland in January increased by 869 people. The reason for the increase was migration from abroad. Immigration exceeded emigration by 1127 people.
Mortality exceeded the birth rate by 671 people. So, in January 2020, 3882 babies were born, the number of deaths was 4553.
According to preliminary statistics for January 2020:
- 2231 people immigrated to Finland from abroad, and from Finland - 1104 people. A total of 636 of the immigrants and 739 of the emigrants were Finnish citizens
- inter-municipal migrations amounted to 20 901 people
