In the last quarter of 2021, producer prices for agricultural products rose by 12.3 % from the corresponding quarter of the year 2020.
- The prices of vegetable products rose by 17.7 %. This was almost entirely due to 55 % higher prices of cereals.
- The prices of meat and animal products went up by 9 %.
In cereals prices, the trend in Finland was still sharply upward at the end of the year 2021.
- The price of fodder barley (feed barley) rose by almost 70 %, oats by 53 % and wheat by 46 % year-on-year. In addition to the poor harvest, the rise in prices was due to a sharp rise in production costs, especially fertilizer and energy prices.
- According to the Finnish Cereal Committee, the purchase price for all cereals is already over 200 euros per tonne.
