Employers in Finland have to inform TE-office about the discharge of employees on financial or production-related grounds.

According the information of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland the Government submitted to Parliament (16.01.2020) a proposal according to which will be re-established the employers' obligation to notify Employment and Economic Development Offices (TE-offices) in a case when personnel were dismissed on financial or production-related grounds. These provisions of acts were repealed in 2017.

According to updated provisions of Employment Contracts Act employers will have to notify the TE-Offices in a situation when 10 and more of the employees will be dismissed for financial or production-related reasons. The employers have to inform discharged employees about their rights to an employment plan as well.

These changes will also affect the Seafarers’ Employment Contracts Act and the Act on Public Servants in Local Government.

The full information can be found at Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment website.
